Advocacy and Communication Advisor – Make Way Project (National Volunteer)

  • Internships / Volunteering  , Media / Advertising / Branding 

The role focuses on leading and enhancing communication efforts by developing impactful content, managing media relations, and strengthening brand visibility. It involves writing, editing, graphic design, basic photography, social media management, website content creation and storytelling to document success stories, support donor communications, and oversee digital engagement. The position requires expertise in graphic design, social media management, and website content creation. Additionally, it ensures strategic advocacy communication for VSO and Make Way by coordinating media outreach and campaign visibility. Professionalism, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills are essential for fostering positive change and sustainable partnerships.

Ideal Applicant Summary

Competencies & Behaviour:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Marketing, Journalism, Broadcast Media, or Business Administration.

Desirable Skills & Abilities:

  • Expertise in multicultural communication, writing, editing, and photography.
  • Experience in project communications, success story documentation, and donor communication.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, graphic design, CMS, website management, and analytics tools.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and publishing design skills, with the ability to tailor messages in English and Swahili.
  • Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health is an asset.
