Global Integrated Flood and Drought Management Competition for Youth-Led Projects 2025
The Global Integrated Flood and Drought Management Competition for Youth-Led Projects 2025 is an initiative designed to support and highlight youth-driven solutions that enhance resilience against floods and droughts. This competition is organized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Global Water Partnership (GWP), in collaboration with the Water Youth Network (WYN) .
About the Competition
Objectives

Strengthen Community Resilience: Promote youth-led initiatives focusing on flood and drought preparedness, response, and adaptation.

Showcase Impact: Demonstrate the effectiveness of youth-led projects in enhancing community resilience.

Sustain Long-Term Solutions: Create opportunities for young leaders to implement, scale, and sustain their projects, ensuring lasting contributions to climate action .
Eligibility Criteria

Youth-Led Projects: Projects must be led by youth under the age of 35, including both students and young professionals.

Active Participation: Youth must be actively involved in the project activities, demonstrating leadership and innovation.

Focus on Climate Resilience: Projects should aim to enhance resilience to floods and droughts, including improving preparedness, response strategies, and long-term adaptation.

Innovative and Results-Oriented: Projects should have clearly identified objectives, timelines, and expected outcomes.

Implementation Timeline: Projects must be completed within a maximum of 9 months.

Scalable and Sustainable: Proposals must demonstrate the potential for scalability and long-term sustainability.

Geographic Focus: While projects can be implemented globally, priority will be given to projects in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDSs), particularly those benefiting the most vulnerable communities. Projects that incorporate gender-transformative approaches, Indigenous knowledge, and nature-based solutions are also prioritized .
Funding
Selected projects will receive 3,000 CHF to support the implementation of their proposed activities .
